About

Overview Melbourne Skydeck is an observation deck located on the 88th floor of Eureka Tower in Southbank, offering 360-degree views of Melbourne and its surroundings. At 285 metres high, it is the highest public viewing platform in the Southern Hemisphere. Visitors ascend to the 88th floor in a lift that takes approximately 38 seconds. The main deck provides panoramic, floor-to-ceiling views of landmarks including the MCG, Federation Square, and Port Phillip Bay.

In addition to the observation deck, the venue offers several add-on experiences. "The Edge" is a transparent glass cube that projects three metres out from the side of the building, suspending guests almost 300 metres above the ground. The MAX VR experience includes the Voyager Theatre, which features a 6D sensory immersion cinematic presentation of Melbourne and Victoria. Another virtual reality attraction is the VR Plank, a simulation of walking on a plank 285 metres above the city.

  • "The Edge," a glass cube that projects from the 88th floor for a view directly down to the streets below.

Community Sentiment (The "Vibe")

What parents like: Helpful and friendly staff, pram and wheelchair accessibility throughout the main observation deck, and the engaging views for children, such as spotting trains and landmarks.

What to watch out for: Additional costs for experiences like "The Edge" and the VR attractions. "The Edge" experience can be intense and may not be suitable for all children or those with a fear of heights. Prams and loose items are not permitted inside "The Edge" cube.
